Firefox 3: My Top 3 Add-Ons
Wednesday, 02 July 2008 00:16

With the recent release of Firefox 3, I thought I'd share some of my favorite Firefox add-ons. If you are a web designer, these are must haves.

1. ColorZilla

If you are a web designer, then this tool is a definite must have. ColorZilla is a small tool placed in the lower left-hand corner of your Firefox window that will allow you to pull color from any web page on the internet and will give you the RGB and Hex values for that color in an instant. When I'm working on new sites I often take a break and forget the hex values I am working with and this allows me to quickly pull the values straight out of the web page without digging into other software to find it.

Download ColorZilla (www.iosart.com)

2. Firebug

This add-on is probably the most powerful of all the add-ons I use because it implements in-depth development tools for web design. It allows you to debug your pages and edit them quickly and efficiently without even leaving your browser window!

Download Firebug (www.getfirebug.com)

3. Web Developer Toolbar

The Web Developer Toolbar is, well, exactly that. It's a toolbar that is packed FULL of features. It allows you to disable scripts, view and edit CSS, and view other various forms of information about the websites you visit. That is just scratching the surface, so you're just going to have to download it and play with it yourself because it'd cut into my nick at nite re-runs of Family Matters if I continued to list all the features. In fact, I still haven't used everything that is included with it.

Download Web Developer Toolbar (www.chrispederick.com)

With these three add-ons in your arsenal it should speed up your web design and make your life a lot easier. The best of all is that they are all compatible with Firefox 3!

If you have any other add-on suggestions be sure to share them in the comments!

The Nationwide Logo?
Saturday, 31 May 2008 06:43

I've had a beef with the Nationwide logo ever since I can remember seeing it. The simplicity of it really makes me begin to question if it is even a logo or not. There is nothing at all that suggests the creator used any talent what so ever, and I think most logos tend to have a general suggestion as to what the company represents. However, when I look at this "logo" I just see...

MMMM
Thursday, 29 May 2008 20:43

Well, I've been away for a few days and now it's time to catch up. While this really isn't anything I created, it is still something I am proud of having.

As I mentioned in my previous post, I packed up and took a few buddies to go see Tally Hall over the weekend. It was one of the most interesting shows because it all took place on a dance floor in a 50's diner turned night club. After the show we got to meet the band and snag some autographs and now I am the proud owner of both the original MMMM (Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum) and the re-release MMMM. Both of which are signed by the band.

It was a happy day for me.

Website Concept - "LYFE"
Thursday, 29 May 2008 01:21

A simple conceptual design for a website that will be used in a media project I am planning. The use of several interconnected websites will be used to tell a story that allows the viewer to investigate and discover information in order to learn more.

Tally Hall T-Shirt

Today I decided to do something I've never really done much of, t-shirt designs.

Special thanks to my roommate/model, Matt.

This Thursday will be my third time seeing a Tally Hall show. That was really my inspiration for this, considering it will be one of the highlights of my summer.

I'll be taking several of my friends and I am really looking forward to introducing them to their live show.

I'll just close by saying: If you haven't heard Tally Hall yet, then you owe it to your ears.

Today, I decided to work on a new website design concept. I've completed the initial Photoshop design and I plan to work on slicing it up and coding it for web soon.
